Trompe l`oeil is a video installation where a projected image emerges inside peoples shadows. Entering a dark and empty space, we notice that our shadows on the floor reveal a map of another space. The map is in constant motion and circles beneath our feet creating a feeling of travelling. Our shadow becomes a borderline to a mobile landscape, where it hopelessly tries to frame the fleeting scenery.

Trompe l`oeil, deceiving the eye, is an old fine art technique, where optical illusion of spatial continuity is created by the means of painting. Applied since antiquity, the technique was elaborated especially in the sixteen and seventeen centuries when artists created naturalistic still lifes and landscapes, which were ment to astonish people with their life-likeness and realness. The installation continues this tradition in the realm of digital technologies.
